You're Invited: Family Day at Saint Mary's Romanian Orthodox Church!
Celebrate spring with our Family Day, a fun-filled day of fellowship, food, and activities for all ages. This is a wonderful opportunity for parishioners to come together, enjoy the outdoors, and strengthen our community bonds.
Schedule of Events
Saturday 2:00 PM - Welcome and Opening Prayer
Family Day will kick off with a warm welcome and an opening prayer led by our priest. This will set a joyful and grateful tone for the day as we gather to enjoy each other’s company and the blessings of fellowship.
2:15 PM - Festive Lunch
Enjoy a delicious lunch with a variety of options to satisfy everyone’s tastes, blending classic picnic favorites with traditional Romanian flavors. The meal will include grilled meats, vegetarian options, and plenty of sides and desserts.
Lunch Menu
- Grilled Meats: Traditional Romanian mici (skinless sausages), grilled meat, sarmale.
- Vegetarian Options: Stuffed Pepper, baked beans.
- Side Dishes: Salad, french fries.
- Desserts: Creeps, Kurtos Kalacs, Gogosi.
- Beverages: Water, Cofee, and soft drinks.
3:00 PM - Games and Activities
After lunch, engage in a variety of games and activities designed for all ages. Whether you’re young or young at heart, there will be something fun for everyone.
4:30 PM - Live Music
Showcase your talents or cheer on your friends and family at our community music show. Singing, dancing (including traditional Romanian folk dances!), and any other talents are welcome. This is a fun and supportive environment for everyone to shine.
7:00 PM - Evening Social, Raffle, and Prizes
As the evening cools down, grab a coffee or extra dessert and participate in our raffle for a chance to win exciting prizes donated by local businesses and parishioners. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase throughout the day, with all proceeds supporting Saint Mary's church activities and initiatives.
8:45 PM - Closing Prayer and Farewell
We will conclude Family Day with a closing prayer, expressing gratitude for the day’s fellowship and fun. This will be a time to reflect on the joy of community as we wrap up our event by 9:00 PM.
Special Highlights
- Picnic Blanket Competition: Bring your most creatively decorated picnic blanket for a chance to win a prize.
- Photo Booth: Capture memories of the day with friends and family at our themed photo booth.
- Volunteer Appreciation: A special moment to recognize and thank all the volunteers who helped make the event possible.
Important Notes
- Volunteers Needed: We need volunteers to help with setup, cooking, games, and cleanup. If you can assist, please sign up at the church office or online.
- What to Bring: Please bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs for seating. Feel free to bring your favorite outdoor games or sports equipment.
- Parking: Parking is available at the church lot and nearby streets. Volunteers will be available to assist with parking directions.
- Weather Plan: In case of inclement weather, Family Day activities and meals will be moved indoors to the social hall. Updates will be posted on our website and social media.
